“Direzione Regionale per i Beni Culturali e Paesaggistici del Piemonte” coordinate the activities of the peripheral structures of “Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali” (Mibac) in the region and cultivate relationships peripheral structures of Ministry and with the regions, local authorities and other institutions operating in the area of competence. “Direzione Regionale” is involved in three key areas: the protection and promotion of artistic and historical heritage, the economic and financial management, organizational coordination. The development of culture, scientific research, protection of landscape and historical and artistic heritage of the nation are some of the fundamental principles of the Italian Constitution. In order to best achieve these principles and after Constitution's Title V changes, with the consequent introduction of the federal system, it was necessary to update the existing rules on protection of cultural heritage and landscape: see “Codice dei Beni Culturali” issued in 2004. Characterized by a strong legislative simplification, the code itself as unique and reliable tool for safeguarding and promoting the Italian heritage spread across the involvement of all local authorities.
